Florida Pelicans Birds Flight Clouds

A small flock of pelicans soar through the sky down the Florida coast in a broken line formation. These birds are seen up and down the coast either cruising high above hotels or skimming close to the water looking for fish.

Some days pelicans are out in large groups in the ocean scattered about in the air. They gain altitude a few stories above the water and suddenly plunge down to the water and break the surface.

…they spot them in the water and dive down to catch them by surprise.

Most of the time pelicans just fly down the coast in flocks. When there are enough birds in a single flock they form a “V” formation. Sometimes single birds break off on their own and then later join another group.

Whenever I see pelicans, I think of the beach.
